Carlos Alcaraz’s younger brother, Jaime Alcaraz, is carving out his own path in the tennis world. At just 12 years old, Jaime recently claimed victory at the Rafa Nadal Tour junior event held in Madrid, Spain, signaling that talent clearly runs in the family.
The Rafa Nadal Tour, launched in 2014, is a junior tennis series organized by the Rafa Nadal Foundation. This annual tournament features seven events across Spain, hosting boys and girls in the under-12, under-14, and under-16 age categories. This year’s competition made stops in Alicante, Barcelona, Gran Canaria, Madrid, Seville, and Valldoreix-Barcelona. The tour culminates in a Masters event at Nadal’s prestigious academy in Mallorca, reserved for the top-performing players of the season.
Born in 2011, Jaime Alcaraz entered the under-12 boys’ division in Madrid as the No. 4 seed. The event took place from July 21 to July 29, and Jaime’s journey to the title was no small feat. He battled through five matches, securing his semifinal and final wins in tightly contested three-set encounters, both of which were decided by a match tiebreak.
This is not the first time Jaime has stepped into the tennis spotlight. He’s been a familiar face in his older brother’s player box at Wimbledon and has been seen practicing alongside him. Jaime has also had opportunities to meet prominent players like Jannik Sinner. Twice, he has participated in the IMG Future Stars exhibition event in Greece, a prestigious showcase directed by former pro Marcos Baghdatis.
Jaime’s recent success draws comparisons to his older brother’s early career. Carlos Alcaraz, currently a global tennis sensation, also competed in the Rafa Nadal Tour as a junior. Notably, Carlos claimed the under-14 title in 2016, making Jaime’s win in Madrid an inspiring continuation of the family legacy.
While Jaime is still at the beginning of his journey, his determination and talent suggest he is well on his way to making a name for himself in the tennis world. With this victory, the younger Alcaraz has taken a significant step in his budding career, showing that he is ready to forge his own identity while following in the footsteps of his celebrated brother.
