Verstappen Eyes Jeddah Comeback After Tough Weekend in Bahrain

Red Bull Racing has dominated the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in recent years, securing back-to-back one-two finishes. In 2024, Max Verstappen clinched his ninth consecutive victory and marked his 100th career podium. That year, he won from pole position ahead of teammate Sergio Pérez, reversing the outcome from the previous year, when the Mexican driver took the top step.

Verstappen has finished on the podium in all four of his races in Jeddah, never placing lower than second. In contrast, the other 19 drivers on the current grid have collectively achieved only five podium finishes at the Saudi Arabian track.

Max’s 2024 pole lap in Jeddah was clocked at a blistering 253.999 km/h — the fastest qualifying lap recorded on a circuit other than Monza since 1990.

However, the 2025 race presents a new set of challenges. Verstappen acknowledged that Red Bull had a difficult start to the season. “Bahrain was a pretty tough weekend for us,” he admitted. “Things didn’t go as planned. We had several issues that set us back, and there’s still a lot of work to do if we want to get back on track toward our goals.”

Still, Verstappen is optimistic about the upcoming race in Jeddah. “It was a strong circuit for us last year. It’s a true high-speed track and really fun to drive,” he said. “Tire wear is usually less of a concern there, so I think we can have a better race. Hopefully, we’ll find more speed and perform like we did in Japan.”
